Chagall

In the later years of his life Chagall took to the creation of stained glass windows. It seems he has made 86(!) in all. I have seen some of them, in Jerusalem, in the cathedrals of Metz and Reims, and then these ones in the Fraumünster in Zürich where he has made six. With their deep colours and bright shining light, used for the religious and spiritual themes of his compositions, Chagall’s windows are the crowning glory of his art.
