Ter Apel infirmary

The village of Ter Apel in The Netherlands has lately come into the news because of the inhuman conditions in the overcrowded Center for Asylum Seekers.
Before the establishment of this Center, Ter Apel was known for the well preserved remains of the medieval Monastery of the Order of the Holy Cross. The monastery was lying on the trade route between Münster and Groningen where travelers used to be well received by the monks.
The nearby Center for Asylum Seekers was built in 2017 to accommodate 2000 refugees but the last few years their numbers often rise much higher. And they don’t get the care that the needy were getting in the infirmary of the monastery in earlier days!
