Kunst im Kunsthaus

This sculpture, placed in a large open space of the Kunsthaus, enters into a special relationship with its environment. We may speak of a very happy union. I can’t imagine a more beautiful contrast between Maillol’s reclining nude and the bare straight surfaces in this corner of the museum. Sculpture and space seem to be made for each other. I stand still, affected, in silent admiration.
