I walked the slopes of the Etna, filmed on Vulcano, felt the threatening presence of Stromboli in Rossellini’s beautiful film of the same name, but a grand view of so many extinct and still active craters as on the Tengger Massif is unique.

This makes the landscape of Mount Bromo, with Semeru in the background, into a very special place of wonderful earthly activity and beauty.
