Was the opening between the trees of this Japanese garden specially conceived to let me have a look at the two lovely girls that were seated there so nicely framed?

Having come closer, I noticed that they were swathed in kimonos, those beautiful, traditional dresses that transform women who wear them into mysterious, almost unapproachable creatures. Dream women; dreamed women.

One of the girls had got up and was walking in the garden, while the other was still sitting on the little bench, immersed in her reading. Seen from behind, I admired her stately beauty, with the eye-catching musubi, the decorative knot on her back, in daring contrast with the design and colours of her kimono.

What a lucky thing there still exist young Japanese women who like to dress up in kimono once in a while and go out!
