Shades of green and yellow

When gazing upon such a beautiful natural scene, a painter might feel the urge to pick up his brushes, a poet to carefully weigh up the words that spring to mind, whilst I … I take the photograph you are now looking at.
We are in Arashiyama, the district on the western outskirts of Kyoto with its beautifully wooded hills, bamboo groves and ancient temples.
We can be almost certain that not only the elegant roof, but also, to a large extent, the arrangement of the trees has been shaped by human hands. What we see here is a work of art in which the aesthetic sensibility of the Japanese spirit and the richness of nature blend together beautifully.
