Tibet café

Tibet, teashop 1996

In this simple Tibetan café, we see a not necessarily hostile mix of people and their cultural expressions from China and Tibet. The large thermos flasks and at least one of the guests are clearly Chinese, whilst the lady with the impressive silver buckle is a typical, traditionally dressed Tibetan woman. The thermos flasks usually contain boiled water for Chinese green tea, but the café certainly also serves Tibetan milk tea with yak butter and salt. The poster on the wall is clearly Chinese, whilst the photograph of the Dalai Lama ………. is conspicuously absent.
