Sun, sea, beach and fun (with plenty of beer), that is Goa for most holidaymakers.
Here then we have a beach not crowded like the ones in north Goa where all the tourists flock, but an empty one, breathing an atmosphere of pristine quietness. Not godforsaken though, as we can see.
They are still there in the south of Goa. Traditional fishing boats pulled up on the beach; fishermen repairing their nets; and big jars on the fire for brewing country liquor, probably feni, Goa’s national drink. Indeed, one of the nice and attractive features of Goa is its liberal alcohol policy. Another happy relic of the catholic Portugese influence on Goan culture?
