A pretty, radiant young woman in the prime of her life. Is there anything more beautiful to be found in this world? Through the centuries she has been the muse of artists trying to portray her, sing her pure, natural beauty in stone, on canvas, on paper, in music, and since the 19th century also on photo and film.

We look at an advertisement photo in a shop window at Changi Airport in Singapore. The photographer, unknown to me, has done a good job. The spotlight on the face is strange, but captivated as I am with the girl’s delightful appearance, I see it as a mysterious manifestation of her shining beauty. The way she comes walking towards me with her radiant smile makes her irresistible. But … I have to run to catch my connecting flight.
