Shining beauty

A beautiful, radiant young woman in the prime of her life. Is there anything more beautiful in this world? Throughout the centuries, she has been the muse of artists who have sought to capture her image and celebrated her pure, natural beauty in stone, on canvas, on paper, in music and, since the 19th century, also in photography and film.

We’re looking at a promotional photograph in a shop window at Changi Airport in Singapore. The photographer, whom I don’t know, has done a fine job. The spotlight on her face is a bit odd, but because I’m so captivated by the woman’s enchanting appearance, I see it as a mysterious expression of her radiant beauty. The way she approaches me with her radiant smile makes her irresistible. But … I must hurry to catch my connecting flight.
