A black woman and a woman in black against a black background. When I walked into a bank in Alice Springs and saw this tableau I couldn’t resist taking a picture. It is at moments like this that I love the world, this wonderful world.
The woman in black is clearly an Aboriginal girl, but the black woman looks African to me, with her features and colourful, red-topped headdress. How on earth does an African girl end up in a bank in Alice Springs in the middle of Australia?
It is precisely because of the grey-black background that one can fully appreciate the beauty of her velvet black skin. The soft light reveals all its nuances. A true African princess.
