Pilgrims’ attraction

During the three-day festival in July, when the giant thangka is displayed at Tashilhunpo Monastery, pilgrims come from far and wide. They climb the steps to the foot of the thangka wall, walk past it and descend again on the other side.

To get a good view of the images on the thangka, it would of course be better to keep a bit of distance – but it’s so wonderful to get as close as possible, where you can almost touch the sacred cloth!
