Lying down on the ground is what Sonia Khurana does in her performances. Lying down on a busy town square for example. In a video at the KMB2018 one can take note of her on-going lying down project.
I was actually more intrigued by another part of her installation: the cut-out shapes in plexiglass of bodies lying down. In two projected photos she has placed a body shape on the ground next to a grave. In the courtyard of the exhibition ground one could see an actual plexiglass body form under a tree. The form is transparent. Seen from one angle it reflects the bright sky and looks completely white, while from another angle the soil underneath shines through.
Changing aspects of simple objects placed in different environments, seen from different angles. Reflections on the human being, on the intimate bond between the human body and nature, earth and cosmos. Wonderful.
