In last week’s post we could find a tiny plastic David at the Trevi Fountain in Rome. Here he is a full-size bronze copy of the original marble sculpture, overlooking Florence from the elevated Piazzale Michelangelo. For a stone replica we have to descend into town to the Piazza della Signora. And if we then still want to admire the original we have to pay a visit to the Galleria dell’Accademia.

Michelangelo has portrayed David with his slingshot resting on his shoulder and a piece of rock in his right hand. He measures over 5 meters in length. Imagine how tall Michelangelo should have made Goliath, if he ever had toyed with the idea.
