Stillness

The silence is audible. Not necessarily because there is no sound to be heard. A voice in the distance, beneath the vast sky, can actually heighten the sense of overwhelming silence.
Silence can also be seen, as the photograph shows. The calm surface of the sea; the vast, empty sky; the faint, almost transparent colours of the sea and sky; the contrasting dark silhouettes of objects protruding from the water … the combination of all these elements evokes a visual impression of supreme tranquillity.
