Tidal wave

In the past, Venice was a formidable maritime power whose ships triumphed over turbulent seas. Now, with the danger of rising water levels, the city runs the risk of getting swallowed up by the sea. ‘The stillness in the hollow of a wave about to brake’ may well forebode imminent disaster for the ‘City of Water’.
