With frame and without

The wooden frame must have been placed there to guide the eyes of the visitors towards the nice view of Château-Chalon. But the frame reduces the view of the little hill town to a mere picture postcard. It creates a distance between the viewer and the landscape.

On the other hand, the picture without frame draws the viewer into the landscape. It invites you to roam around in the gardens and fields. You notice all kinds of details. You sense the distance between the town and the surrounding hills. It makes you feel present inside the landscape.

With frame and without: a notably different impression.
