A happy union

Kulpreet Singh creates works (films, paintings) centred on the practice of farmers burning stubble in their fields in the Punjab and the air pollution this causes across a wide area, as far as New Delhi. It is an annual phenomenon that sparks widespread social discontent.
What I wish to focus on here, however, is the happy union of this painting by Singh and the space in the old warehouse in which it was exhibited, with a few additional bales of straw. It almost seems as though the space and the painting were made for one another, so well do they complement each other. One could quite rightly regard the photograph of the painting in its surroundings as a new work of art.
