Painting grass

Painting grass is what Priti Vadakkath does with great dedication, filling canvases, each several metres long. This is what she has to say about it:
“The Shola Grasslands series is a continuing body of work directly inspired by the vast landscape of Udumbanchola, Idukki, (Kerala), where I live and work on my farm. It celebrates the quiet power of the seemingly insignificant and easily ignored, inviting reflection on the grasslands’ resilience, endless capacity for regeneration, and intrinsic connection to the living fabric of the forests and beyond.”
Looking at her work, I cannot help but admire the grass’s tremendous vitality and, with it, the sensitivity and perseverance with which Priti Vadakkath has so wonderfully captured it on canvas.
