Over the past few months, I have shown you a selection of contemporary artworks that caught my eye – usually in a positive way – at the 6th Kochi-Muziris Biennale. There were more, and still more that didn’t particularly appeal to me, but I think that’s enough for now.
And what better way to conclude than with this cheerful note of two mannequin torsos, covered – save for the breasts – with pin-up girls in one instance and famous artworks from throughout history in which women are depicted in the other. It was one of the works by the group The Panopticon. They probably had their own intentions behind it, but I like to see it as an ironic, playful ode to the beauty of women.
